Poems about Ty Newydd

Below are 2 poems I have written about my live in Ty Newydd

Poem 1

Ty Newydd was a run down house

Went I bought it in 91

But it stood there tall and proud

And glistened in the winter sun.

There were no houses there about

And fields beneath the snow

From the flat roof on the back

The view would make me Glow.

It took 6 months to rebuild the house

With builders in and out

Everything but the walls

Was stripped out with a clout

New plumbing, New Electrics

New roof and windows too

New Heating and new Flooring

All done by a local few.

The house although over

Two hundred years old.

Was nice and warm

And no longer cold.

For sixteen years

This has been my home

Where once there were fields

Houses have grown.

The house once old

is now anew

And I’ve always kept

that wonderful view

Poem 2

I used to live in London

But now I live in Wales

I live on top of a mountain

Where it rains it snows it gales.

But I sooner live on my mountain

Than that old London Town

Coz whenever I start to think of it

My dreams all start to drown

Don’t hear me false or get me wrong

Living in London was great.

But Miles away on top of a hill

In Wales I found my fate

It’s here I lived and here I loved

And here I live today

And If I have my real choice

It’s here I would fade away

From my house I see for miles

Right up to the coast

The view is fantastically amazing

And for that I can really boast

The woods are near

And fields are too

And from my house

They are all in view

I really love my mountain

As you can plainly see

But I have to sell my castle

To be near my family

But I’m not moving back to London

I’m staying here in Wales

Near my mountain Castle

Where it rains it snows it gales

Coz my family all live here now

And I tell them many tales

Of how I played as a boy

On another mountain in Wales
